Removing Date Stamp in Photos

Okay, here's the deal, my girlfriend didn't have enough sense to disable the date stamp on the camera when taking pictures at Prom and Graduation, so I'm sitting here now uploading them from the camera when I notice that all of the thumbnails display the picture WITHOUT the stamp, but when viewed with any program the stamp is there. But if the thumbnail is displaying the picture with no date, then that means that the file coding must exist for just the photo alone. Anyone know of a way to take out the date, without having to smudge and patch it up with Photo Shop?

I think that the cybershots actually write the date into the image, so you won't be able to get rid of it easily.

JPEG files can contain built-in thumbnails. What's probably happened is that the camera saves the thumbnail before adding the date.
