Removing Brand New Thermal pad

I got a new stock heatsink with my P4 2.8. I want to replace the thermal pad with Arctic Silver 5. How do I remove the pad(still not melted)? What do I need?

I would. I use these disposable lint-free cloths they sell at Wallgreens for cleaning lenses. i think they're called "Lens-Clear". works like a charm on both the heatsink and CPU.

Intel usually uses thermal tape, peel it off and wipe the surface with a solvent based cleaner such as...charcoal lighter fluid.

I wouldn't use a razor blade - easy to scratch the heatsink creating a heat trap. Use a plastic tool instead. One of the plastic knives that McDonalds gives with their large breakfast items works like a charm. Or a credit card. Remove any remaining adhesive/goop with lighter fluid (naphtha) or acetone followed by a rubbing alcohol rinse. Those lens tissues or Kimwipes (get from lab supply company) are great for cleaning without lint.

Coffee filters are the easiest lint-free "cloths" to find. They're also very cheap.

I couldn't get the bottom part of the heatsink to look flawless. The adhesive that Intel uses to stick the black foil-like pad to the heatsink wouldn't come off 100%.
