I've done it previously, but it's back after I installed an updated driver for my soundcard, Creative SoundBlaster PCI64D. I'm talking about the icon with the slide control bar picture on it, NOT the speaker icon for the volume control. Trying everything, I am still unable to remove it. Any ideas?

Right click the icon, then delete. ;) If it is not one where you can do that, then the item must be removed from startup to begin with. I may not have the answer, as I have one I'd like gone too...that stupid update thing for sblive. :)

Run the registry editor, then open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version/Run. You can select and delete the program entry in the right panel, which will stop it from loading in your task bar.

dabuddha,

what u said may work, as it won't load it up at the beginning, it might not bring up its icons afterwards.

Carbo, give it a shot if you already have removed the icon.
