It's probably an extremely noobish question but I can't seem to be able to get my HR-05 northbridge chipset heatsink off of my motherboard. It is attached via push pins but I face a dilemma because I can't seem to take them out.

Exactly how are you supposed to uninstall something attached by push pins (those white push pins that sort of clamp down from behind the motherboard after pushing them in). I tried looking for any information about uninstalling it but I can't seem to be able to do this menial, yet frustrating task!

HELP!!!~ :(

First, you need to take the motherboard out. Second, squeeze the end of the pin on the underside of the board with a pair of tweezers or something. Third, pull the pin out.

just make sure the cap is squished then it should push through, if you plan on replacing it with a different heatsink and don't care about obviously voiding the warranty you can just cut the plastic peices (make sure not to damage the board)

gotta do it from bottom, and use needlenose pliers, not a tweezer. You can push the pin up and snip it in half, if you have the room and are VERY careful not to ding the board.

So basically, while im squeezing the pins from the underside of the motherboard, I have to push it out at the same time, right? I hate my big fingers. lol
