Removing a mole

I have this mole on my back, slightly above my right butt cheek. It is irritating whenever I wear a belt. So I want it gone.

I don't understand how in the world it takes 4-5 months to get an appointment to see a Dermatologist. And it took only 5 minutes for him to "remove" it. I didn't even get to see what kind of tool(s) he used. I feel ripped (ha ha).

Do you guys have any experience with removing a mole or two by a doctor or by youself (I heard they grow back?)?

It depends how they remove it. I had two cut out...they inject it with some local anesthetics then just use a scalpal and cut around it and pull it out. then stitch it up and i'm done. Takes about 15 minutes, and they haven't grown back in about 3 years.

Why can't your pcp remove it? My last pcp removed one for me (cut it off) in his office, when I mentioned that it really bugged me. I just had to go in a week later to have the stitches removed.

I've also had skin tags frozen off with nitrogen in my pcp's office.

Why do you have to go see a dermatologist?

do they scoop it out with a blade, cauterize it off or freeze it like a wart?

I had a wart once that they froze with liq nitrogen 4 or 5 times before it finally disappeared

Had a skin tag removed. Cost almost $100 for 3 seconds of actual work. Needle went in to numb the area. Knife cut it off. Bandaged and I was sent on my way.

a pitchfork through the ground should get it. but if you aren't quick enough you could always try flooding its tunnel with a water hose.

The whole procedure was so short, probably took less time than posting this.

He said, "You might feel a little sting", rub some "alcohol", felt a sting, and use another tool, then taped it up.

Gave me some Polysporin and "Coverlet" adhesive dressing to change once a day.

I just iced my mole up and then cut it with scissors but that was one of those moles that sticks out.

I went to the Dermotologist because I had a couple moles I wanted them to "look at". I didn't know if they were bad or not but they were annoying. The guy looked at them and said "Yeah we can have those removed, I'll be right back".

He came back in the nurse, gave me a shot by each one, got out his scalpel, zip zip zip, no more moles.

Haven't had anything grown back yet and it's been 6 months or so I would guess.

During a full moon, walk out to the middle of an open field. Take a penny, rub it no more, no less than 100 times with the penny (should be pre 1967 mint). Toss the penny over you left shoulder. Shout the words "BE GONE MOLE!" five times then run like hell back home.

I had a relatively large one taken from my back, and a few 'skin tabs' off my neck. all they do is give you a bit of novicain (sp?) then take a scissors and cut it off.

this was about 2-2.5 months ago and the one on my back is still healing

My mom had this tool when she worked in the skin business. Kept me pimple free, hehehe. One day she came home with this box type divice with something that looked like a pen attached to it. Had me lay down, and experimented on my moles. They aplpy this local anesthetic, and the pen looks like it shoots electric current to burn out the mole.

Stupid HMO wouldn't remove a mole that bothered me, so I did it myself. Used an ice cube to numb the area, then used sterilized scissors to cut off the mole (I don't condone such reckless behavour for others). It was either a few seconds of pain or a lifetime of an anoying mole. It hasn't grown back in 5 years.

I had one on my leg and cut it off. It was fairly small, but I didn't numb it and dang did it hurt. Hasn't grown back in several years. I'm not poor anymore so I'd definitely have a professional remove them now.

Ex-GF of mine had one taken off of her butt. As mentioned by others, just some local anesthetic and froze it off with (I think0 Liquid Nitrogen. He was able to do this in his office and she was out in about 20 minutes.
