Hi, I have a Radeon 9800 pro that has a floppy connector for power to the card. I find that it is quite difficult to remove the floppy connector as it seems very fragile. Does anyone know of a trick or tips to disconnect the floppy connector safely?
Floppy connector? Perhaps a 4-wire cable to your CD/DVD player. (Allows for direct playing of audio CD's.) The 9800 power connector is a standard molex...
Inspect the 4-wire connector closely. You can grab the plastic part of the plug and pull it without straining the wires.
I mean the 4 pin molex that is used to power the card. Its the same power cable that you use to power up a floppy drive. In this pic you can see it at the top of the card, near the center.
You could try to get a small screwdriver or knife blade in between the connector shell and the latch tongue (the plastic piece that is under the connector when you slide it in place).

Yeah, those connectors are cool - http://www.jab-tech.com sells them the cheapest of anywhere I've found. The kit even includes a pin extractor which usually costs more than the entire kit. Unfortunately he's talking a small 3" floppy connector - those are the large drive power connectors.

Strange. My 9800pro has a 4-pin power connector (same as those for 3.5" HDDs) and I suppose it's to power the on-board fan. I thought the board itself derives power from the PCI bus.
