I don't think any FSM's show it either.

You do realize when an engineer puts up a 3 sig fig clearance it may be important in some way, right?

Most that do car work are lucky at best with their jerry rigging.

It was this forum that also stated torque wrenches are totally a waste of time in an engine rebuild. I forget the poster, but he was popular.


You do realize you don't check it with a feeler gauge, right?

Not familiar with that vehicle, but if the manual calls for a measured clearance then that means you measure it. If it calls for something like 'finger tight' then 2 full turns then you don't.

Most of this is splitting hairs I realize, but on the track or aggressively driving out in the outskirts of civilization...torque specs can mean the difference of a good day and a bad day.

I know a lot of 'pros' swear a torque wrench is unneccessary for wheels, but I have seen quite a few ruined by an asshat with a torque stick on an air ratchet.
