removed hhd with os, fresh hdd is in.

I removed master hdd due to failure of it. I still have 1 hdd left which i want to install but it doesnt let me. I press f8 so i can select the boot device (xp dvd) and it says error loading os

Well, you can't use F8 to load the XP boot loader if there is no XP installation on the computer anymore now can you? You need to go into the BIOS and change the boot priority. Make your 1st priority drive the DVD-ROM and the 2nd priority the HDD you want to install to. That way, when you reboot you can just remove the CD-ROM and go to the OS.
 
OK, I got to the blue windows installation window. I formated the hdd, but I got error after the restart. THe error said: Windows could not start because the following file is missing winroot\system32\hal.dll. Reinstall a copy of the file. OK i tried to do it from two different win cd, same error. Any Ideas please? 🙁
