Removeable Motherboard Trays?

Pabster

Lifer
Seems to be a lost feature, but something I miss.

Looking for a large, beefy case ala P180-esque with a removeable motherboard tray. Does it exist?

all lian li cases except the pc7a and b have a removable MoBo tray. Lian li is tops for quality to. Their silent cases run closer to $200 though... the pc60 plus II is a great bet on a $120 budget.

The cheapest available with a drawer now except for special sales is the Skyhawk MSR (entry-level server). The Raidmax X-1 has a removable tray (out thru the right side) but not a drawer. The Silverstone Berserker has a removable tray - it's avaliable thru Xoxide. The all-aluminum Silverstones usually have drawers, and some Thermaltake cases have drawers or trays. You usually have to go to the mfr's web site to find out about the trays, as reseller blurbs generally miss that fact. Probably quite a few more that I'm unaware of - or at least can't remember right now...
. With a mobo drawer, you usually will be giving up the possibility of a 120mm rear fan - the whole case would have to be made over an inch wider to accomodate a drawer that could fit a 120. Only the Akasa case has both that I know of. But you can get around that - see the link in one of my posts to the recent Wavemaster thread here (and BTW, the Wavemaster is still being made and still has a drawer - OEM versions have been popping up here and there at great prices).

My Aspire X-Plorer has one, but I don't like it. You gotta take out a screw in the back, and two screws that hold in the default rear panel (not a problem once you install your mobo).

I wish I noticed that the default rear panel was locked into the mobo tray earlier, I just gashed my hand pulling out the tray. 🙁

The 777 doesn't, but then again not having one is hardly a negative for this case as its so huge inside.

Looks like FrozenCPU's custom modded Blizzard 360 is the only one with the type of removeable tray I like. I used to own a pair of their previous Blizzard cases and they were AWESOME. Only caveat is price, about $250.
