after running windows 98 for some time i decided to upgrade to windows xp using an isntall that kept the settings and configurations of win98. After running with xp i decided to remove it and use win98 again. The unistall went perfectly and i had win98 back again but there was one thing that remained annoying. everytime i boot up my pc after going past post boot i kept getting this screen come up everytime saying would you like to install windows xp and another choice beneath saying abort install how do you get rid of this screen as it is beomeing very annoying.
Ive tried everything checking autexec.bat the registry i am just stuck can anyone help me please

(P.S no the windows xp cd is not in the cd rom drive when i boot!!)

Did you check startup? As in Start, Programs than look for startup. IE puts the reinstall in there. Worth a try. Also you need to delete the XP instillation files if you haven?t already.

if you're getting this message before Windows starts loading, sounds like the XP setup put something in your master boot record. Boot into windows and open up a command prompt window (Start -> Run, command, [Enter]), and then type "fdisk /mbr" (no quotes). This will reset the master boot record on the hard drive to the one that Windows 98 uses, without the XP setup prompt at the beginning.
