"REMOVE" in profile e-mail

I know that "remove" is inserted into our profile's email for good reason. My question is this: Why is the modified email still clickable?

(If this question has been axed before, I apologize . . . )

unless you use OE, then it's:

click
try to highlight
realize you can only highlight the whole address
curse atot
curse jason
go back to profile
highlight address
curse more because it's harder to highlight a link
copy
paste in OE
click
highlight
delete "REMOVE"

The worst part is, I'm sure bots will be able to get around it since its the first 4 letters after the @ then REMOVE then the rest...

DUMB IDEA IMO

its not always the first 4 letters, then REMOVE: its variant. see werk's profile for example.

Yeah it varies but it's still not hard for bots to get around anyway. Just search the address for the string "remove" and get rid of it.

Glad I checked out this thread. Could not figure out what was goin on with my profile...been trying to "fix it", to no avail.

I'm selling some stuff on FSFT and was worried that potential buyers would just click on the email link in the profile without thinking twice. Now, I include my email in the FSFT post just in case and for convenience to potential buyers/sellers.

50, what is dumb to you might help other people. Most boards have email scrambling and do it in a similar fashion. Sure it won't stop everyone or everything, but it helps.
