REMOVE in email address

Ok, can someone tell me whats with the REMOVE that I see in a lot of email addresses?

In a perfect world programmers who write email harvesters would be too dumb to include a function to automatically strip the word "remove" from the email address.

This isn't a perfect world.

There are web crawlers that go around looking for e-mail addresses to send spam to. By having REMOVE in there, the web crawler will collect a fake address. You'll need to remove REMOVE inorder to send an e-mail.

EDIT: as aves2k said, it is easily circumvented
