Removal of Intels' heatsink

Can refer any url that shows how to correctly removed that newer larger FC-PGA PIII 1GHz original Intels' heatsink and fan, desirably any pictures illustrations. Thxs.

Man, I don't remember the url, but I did it myself a few times (back when I was still using Intel!). It's easy, just put a screw upside down on a table and push the processor down on top of the screw (lining up the screw with each hole on the processor, one at a time). The little brackets pop right out. It was real easy.

The fan has four 1/2" wide "spider feet" tabs that straddle the heatsink. At the bottom of each "foot"
is a tiny flat tab that sticks out about 1/32"*. You must CAREFULLY squeeze with thumb and forefinger
in the two tabs on one end to lift it out. I broke off a tab the first time I tried it because I couldnt see
what was holding it in. The fan does not slide, its locked in two ways.
From then on you just press the green unlock finger tab.

*hooked underneath.

IMHO, you ought to leave it on. Reasons being:

1.) Not easy to remove successfully, as Bozo so well described.

2.) Violates any warranty.

3.) It's a decent HS/fan unit.

4.) A HS/fan unit offering higher performance will not offer much payback for your money as you're not going to get much of an O/C out of a P3 1GHz.
