Removable Hard Drive and Virus Software

I had been using AVG, but it will not let XP "stop" my removable firewire hard drive (Ipod). Tried everyting including AVG tech support. The only resolution is to uninstall.

Any other free virus software recommendations?

Don't ask for software in General Hardware.
