Removable 3.5 IDE Enclosure

Title says it all.

I am looking for a removable IDE enclosure that support windows 2003 server. We are using Windows 2003 Standard.

Thanks

I think that any IDE enclosure, parallel or serial, should be as compatible as any other(excluding the really nasty cheapies that just aren't compatible with anything). PATA and SATA enclosures are generally just passive boxes, no drivers to worry about. You'll need to move up to high end SATA and SCSI before the enclosures become active, swappable components, where it might remotely matter.

I don't have specific experience with nicer enclosures, just ebay specials; but I imagine that you'll be ok with any decent PATA or SATA enclosure.

Thats what we need, is an active one where we can remove the drawer live. Its being used as a removable drive for backup purposes. and the software that comes with it is does not work with 2k3 server. Prefer IDE/PATA as we already have some ide hdds, but sata would work too

Your best bet will be a USB2/Firewire enclosure, and dedicated backup software. I don't know of any that have caddy-style trays, but as for removing it, just flip the power switch on the back and swap the drive. As it's USB/Firewire, it won't matter, as long as the disk's not being used at the time.
