Remote wonder with hauppuage wintvpvr and gf3

I just got my Dad a all in wonde radeon 7500 (so he can watch CNBC in the office), and my system at school has a wintv pvr, since he has no real need for the remote, I was thinking about using it on my system (since it is my tv at school), the main programs I would be using it would be Wintv, Dscailer, and Windvd. I know I can write plugins for the ati remote to make it work with them, but would it be worth it?
