Remote users changing passwords

Anyone know of a way for dial up clients to change their passwords remotely? The OS is XP and in Exchange 2000 OWA, the feature doesn't work. Also, their machines are not in the domain. The users basically dial in, get authenticated and access email & a custom app, but every 30 days they have to call to have their password reset. Any ideas?

I think you need an SSL cert in order for the change password feature in OWA 2000 to work. That would be the easiest way.

It may be possible to write an ASP page to change the password, then the users could go to that page when their password expires.

I know a ssl vpn would resolve this, but our company is not quite ready for that yet.

How about setting those users accounts so the password never expires?

That does not adhere with our security policy. Since these users only use laptops, were actually considering tightning security for them
