I will have a local shop recommended by my dealer to install a $259 Pursuit series APR0 9175FT4 remote starter with FOB.

What are the drawbacks or any tips I should consider?

I have 1998 Limited with V6.

Thanks.

That seems a farking lot of money. Most places in Nova scotia, Canada do it for $100-150 installed - and that's in CAN dollars. What's so special about this pursuit thing. Does it start the car faster? :p

Yes, it costs $259. Sounds like I should price check some other places?

What? I can get one in canada for $150 installed - that includes starter and installation. $260 for starter plus installation seems like your money is burning a hole in your pocket.

Good Question. I've also wondered if it worked on manual cars as I own a stick. Question is, how does it work on a stick? Assuming that the clutch needs to be depressed for all stick shift cars, how does the remote starter bypass this. Does it cost more to install it on a manual car as opposed to an automatic car?

You rarely want to install a remote starter on a manual transmission car. Too dangerous, or too expensive to install all the safety overrides/sensors you'd need to make sure it worked.

Besides, most manual transmission owners are used to parking their car in gear. Aren't you going to feel like a dumbass when you do it out of habit one day, then walk out to your car, hit the remote start button - and watch the car jump over a parking block into a ditch?

I have one on my automatic car, and it's fantastic. $259 sounds like a good deal to me - but maybe it's a much more common thing in canada (in colder areas?)
