Remote Real-Time Computer Monitoring?

My cousin has told me that somehow his computer's settings keep getting changed. I setup some new virus protection software on it and set all the settings to maximum security, but the settings are still getting changed. It looks like from the settings that are being changed that someone would have to be doing it manually. Another idea I have is to monitor his computer remotely from my house to his house. What software would run in stealth on his computer (so whoever is changing the settings won't know they are being monitored) and would allow me as his technician to monitor his screen in real-time remotely and would allow me to take control if I had to?
 
Curious but what settings are being changed?

Not sure if it's invisible as I haven't used it in a while, but maybe something like LogMeIn would allow you to monitor it remotely. I think they have a free version still.
