Remote or App for multiple devices

Hey I have the following.
Samsung KS8000 tv
Fios cable(Quantum box dvr)
Yamaha sound bar

Is there a remote or some sort of app(iphone or even ipad) that will let me control all those devices at the same time? Would I be able to program it so that when I hit the power on it will power on all device at the same time? I know a lot of people talk about Harmony remotes but I have never used one before. Any suggestions? Would also like to be able to add things like a record option or guide option to use for the cable box.

Logitech Harmony Remote (whatever model suits you) should be able to control your devices. I have the Harmony Elite that so far controls my Vizio M70 and Yamaha receiver. I think it can control up to 8 devices. It's pricey though. There's a very popular model (650 I think) that should do the trick for you for around $70. Look up the list of devices on logitech's website, then look up the remote, then head to Amazon. The remote can record, FF, RW, etc once you enter the model of your box.

You can program the Harmony with custom commands if it doesn't do what you want. It can learn buttons from the original remote for special functions too. The only thing it can't do is act as the pointer on your TV if you use that feature at all.

Another option is roomie remote for iOS. https://www.simplecontrol.com/ The big downsides of this is you have to subscribe to a service(recurring fee) to use more than 3 devices with the $9.99 app and it onmly works with devices that allow IP control over your network. Also that on a tablet or smartphone screen, the buttons aren't easy to press without looking. With a standard remote I can usually control devices by feel but not with a phone screen, gotta look down to see what I'm hitting. Personally I wouldn't touch that with a 10 foot pole because of the cost not being 1 time and the fact that some devices will never work outside of IR anyway. Go with a Harmony remote.

I've been using Roomie Remote for about 3 years now and love it. And you do not have to pay any subscription fee. I control about 6 devices with it and don't pay a monthly fee at all. I wonder if this is some newer thing they have done and are letting people use it who have had it for a while not pay any fees.

You do now. They changed their policies a while back. You have to subscribe. There were forum posts I found about it and lots of people complained.

I don't know, according to the official thread on AVS people have upgraded and been just fine without having to upgrade to a subscription model.

At first they were just offering 6 month grace periods or something and they may have went back on that policy. Anyhow on their website it seems pretty clear that you have to subscribe now if you are using it for the first time.
