Remote Network Printer Server?

Can someone recommend a device which would allow me to remotely (i.e. while sitting at my work computer) print something on my networked home printer without the home printer being attached to a computer?

TIA

If your home computer is already on the (local) network, all you need is to be able to communicate with it over the internet. This generally requires two things:

1) Being able to reach your public ip address. This is difficult because 1)your ip address will change from time to time 2) your employer may block your access to it. For the former, I use a dynamic dns service.

2) Configuring port forwarding on your router so that the networked printer can be accessed. The possible relevant ports are 515, 632, 9100. See here http://members.cruzio.com/~jef...co/lp/printservers.htm

sounds like I'll need an always on computer.
I was hoping to avoid that, and connect my printer to my router/switch and access it directly via the internet.

No, it's not necessary. I use a small embedded print server I got from frys for like $20-30. Of course the router and modem have to be on too, but they probably are already.

Can you suggest one
that will allow me to can print via the internet

IF I get internet access with a static IP - is there anything else that can change? That will prevent me from printing?
