I will be very careful with buying a 3rd-party accessories for PS2. Especially remotes. It has been known that some 3rd-party remotes could cause damages to PS2, and using a 3rd-party reomote may void the PS2 warranty. I saw Remote made by Sony at Best Buy a few days ago (Culver City, CA), and it was 19.99. It looks a lot better and had much better functionality and features. I would invest extra $10 (probably less considering shipping) than buying this well-known problem maker.

finkl, that's bunk - i had a third party remote for months, with no problems.

the Sony official remote is better than any of the third party ones, though. Make sure you have a memory card for the software.

not sure about 3rd party controllers for the PS2, but i know for a fact that some do screw up the regular PS. my nephew has an interact controller and now he can't use his original controllers. he borrowed my PS and now my controllers don't work. this also happened to some of my friends with controllers of different brands. did a search and it seems a lot of people have this problem. it looks like the 3rd party devices short out something in the controller port unit. now my controller ports and mem card slots don't recognize anything. :|

I have used this remote for 9 months now with no problems.
I paid $25 for it then.
