I was thinking about try to assemble something like this with an old electric rc truck I have but I see there are a few models already at reasonable prices. Anyone have something like this or thought about building one with a model electric car?

This one is cool but it looks very slow. And it uses Nicads ugh. But could pop in some nimhs for a little more. Its around $80 on Ebay.

This one has a lithium battery and claims to get 2.5 hours of run time for only $30 more. You could definitely build one yourself as a fun project but I doubt you could do it for that much cheaper, depends on if you'd enjoy the project or if you'd rather have something now.

Thanks. yea I like the black one. What's funny is how smaller they are irl. I wanted something about the size of regular RC car so it couldn't get knocked over easily but that one is 7". Another one I was looking at is $144 and its 5 inches.

So I guess I look for WIFI receiver to control vehicle and receive audio and transmitter for audio and video that can drive servos.

Dang, I didn't even look at the sizes, that is surprising! I did see one with a video that wasn't that small, it looked like a yellow robot but it didn't look very fast.

Also, the bigger it is the more it weighs, the bigger the motors need to be etc... so battery life will be affected pretty heavily with all of the other electronics it has.

That's awesome. I actually got an idea to do something like that a while back, but never actually executed it. Would make a fun project.

I thought about getting a roomba myself but the issue is my cat pukes a lot. So I would get home and the puke would be smeared EVERYWHERE by the roomba going in it and spreading it everywhere. I saw a video where this happened with dog poop, it would basically be that, but with puke. I'm gagging a little just thinking about how bad the smell would be, and the industrial grade cleanup I would need to do. The roomba would also be a write off.

Could modify a roomba so I can control it manually wirelessly from work though. Could have a camera and I can just cruise along and vacuum the house from work while ensuring to avoid puke piles. :p

Suppose a really advanced setup could have a sensor of sorts to detect the puke and record the GPS coordinates and avoid that location. Basically an overhead infrared sensor that follows the cat's heat signature, and then looks for new stationary heat signatures that appear nearby and then don't move anymore.

Solution: Get rid of the damn puking cat.

Need to develop puke poop avoidance device PPAD as an addon to the romba or license it to the manufacturers. I'm sure this is a concern for them as well.
