Is there a way to make it to where the remote computer dosent log off when i conect to it? And make it to where the keybored and mouse wont work while im conected? Thanks!

Remote computer should not logoff. Remote computer will Lock or if Fast-Switching mode will bring up the Welcom screen. To answer this question NO. Remote desktop is the same as installing Terminal Services in Administration mode. You can only be on the remote connection OR the console. If you want another free solution look into the many forms of VNC.

actually...with terminal server on 2KAS or 2k3 server, you don't login to the console session, unless you specify that session. XP only has one session, so it's console or remote (although he is right, it only locks it, doesn't log off).

oops my bad, i dident mean logoff i ment it goes to the welcome screen. So theres no way at all with windows remote desktop to avoid this? :-(

You knew what i ment 😉 I was assuming it was XP Pro.

Ok i have tightVNC do you know of any kind of walkthrow for it? or can some one help me out with it just to get started?

ok im stuck here

" After you have started the viewer, you will be prompted for the host name and optional display number of the remote server you want to access. The display number typically will be :0 if the remote server is WinVNC and you did not change its default settings. If there was no display number entered, the viewer assumes it to be :0. After entering the host name and the display number, click OK, and you will be prompted for your password, after which you should see the remote display. If the machine running the server does not have a proper DNS entry, you probably won't be able to use the computer name and will have to type in its IP address. (Note that the TightVNC server displays the IP address when the mouse is passing over its tray icon.)"

What do i use the the host name?

There is a setting on the remote computer within VNC Server to show wallpaper. By default its off to conserve bandwith.

On the remote machine right click on the vnc icon in the system tray and goto properties.

Uncheck "remove desktop wallpaper on client workstations"
