I'm trying to just play around at home with routers, modems, commands for learning purposes. And I'm currently trying to use Remote Desktop, I have two laptops in front of me on my home network, and I've made sure both laptops have remote desktop enables, but it won't work. I keep getting an error message. I have comcast router/modem combo is there something i have to set up within the router to be able to remote desktop?
 
Are you trying to RDP into them locally? Comcast won't let you go out on the internet and then back in for the remote. Same thing with ftp. You can put the RDP software on your phone and try it using your data connection.
