Remote Desktop

Is there a way to remotely connect to your XP Home desktop? I am in the process of trying VNC Personal Server but from what I can gather you have to buy a license after 30 days, is there a free way of doing this or another program?

Any help is appreciated

Remote Desktop is only available in XP Pro or Vista Business/Ultimate, so you'll need to use VNC instead. I don't know why VNC would ask for money; I've had it installed on every computer in my house for the past 2 years at least and it has always been free.

ShawnD1, thanks for the reply here is the link where I downloaded from Real VNC. Two different downloads I guess. Is the security good in this version?

I would assume the security is not very good. For things like Remote Desktop and Citrix, the host computer knows it's being remotely controlled, and it imposes security restrictions. VNC has no restrictions, so anybody who figures out the password has complete control of the system.

go for Ultra VNC and it free and the video hooks driver can help out a lot on a slower machine.
