Have a laptop in my upstairs master bedroom I'm using as a media server/downloading machine. Every now and then I need to get in the machine to work on it locally. Its running windows 10. Now, I've tried playing with remote desktop, but the only way i can seem to get that to work is to log on my main user profile and sign into a different user. I don't want that. I want the capability to, via my local network, control the computer via another pc (prefer to work from my hackintosh laptop) from the primary user, just like if i were to go to the laptop and control the mouse keyboard there.

What is the best way to do this? RDP? VNC? LogMeIn? I don't need remote access (its a nice to have, but 99% will be done via local network).

Google Remote Desktop is very convenient. Penetrates NAT firewalls without forwarding ports and everything.
