Remote desktop unavailable through wireless

We have a few users who can VPN into our network, but can't remote desktop into their work PC's if they connect through wireless. If they connect through wire, everything works fine.

At first I thought they connected through their neighbors' AP's, which don't allow IPSec passthrough, but the fact that they can VPN in says otherwise.

Has anyone seen anything like this?

That's one of the questions I asked the users.
They haven't got back to me; will post once I gather more info.

AP's pass data indiscriminately. Now if your talking about a wireless router or Router/AP combo unit then there may be rule or something in place on the wireless side via the Router Admin GUI. THe AP part of that wireless router wouldn't stop any data unless your talking about encyrption problems or something like that.

So, you can ping the remote machine your trying to open an RD session to?

Can you map a drive to that machine over the VPN tunnel?

I am thinking along the same lines as Jack I'd imagine. Better to find out more information because it doesn't sound quite right as posted. We'd need to know exactly what you can do across the tunnel via a wireless link from client to AP.

Showoff 😉

Thanks for checking on the case.
I just sent another email to those users. Will post any updates once I hear anything from them!
