So far I can open the movie on 2nd pc, fullscreen it, and turn off remote desktop, but then I have to get off my ass to type in login password to enter windows on 2nd pc, where the video will be playing.

I tried taking the p/w off but I couldnt even use remote desktop then, and even if that worked, I'd likely still have to get up to click on the user account to get into windows. I'd like to be able to set the video up, disable remote desktop, and have the movie playing on 2nd pc without having to log back into windows or whatnot.

Both pcs are running vista x64. I could set the password to 1 letter, and get 2 of those homer simpson typing ducks, and have one on enter and 1 on the letter, but that'd get noisy.

Please help me solve this problem, and make my home setup better.

Try something like UltraVNC. It doesn't blank out the screen on the host PC when you connect from a remote computer.

I ran into a few snags setting it up, but now that I have it, its a thing of beauty. I put a Mycomputer quicklaunch sort of thing in the toolbar on the server pc, so I can get to any file really quickly, so bloody convenient, and I dont have to get off my ass at any point.

Ty sir for the fine suggestion.

Hmmm seems like alot to stream video. I set up a network with my base computer being password protected. I put in the password once on my media pc downstairs and now can stream video and audio whenever I want. Maybe I am missing something here in the security area? Of course this is an XP setup (did a vista ultimate install and watched my computer go from lightning quick to excrutiatingly slow) so is that where I am missing the boat? just curious as to what information I am missing.
