I was wondering if it's possible to use either remote desktop or remote assitance from high speed internet to dial up aol internet? I m trying to figure how to help my grandpa by using remote desktop through aol on his computer. I m getting tired of going over there to fix the comp problem.

I m using win xp home editon sp2 and high speed internet with router. My grandpa uses window xp pro sp1. I ve heard that window xp home edition sp2 can use remote desktop as a host. I m not sure if it's true.

thanks in advance.

You'll need to foward ports on your router. 3389 is what is in my head but I can't confirm that is the port. You could also use netmeeting and just have him share his desktop. I use netmeeting with my parents and troubleshooting without any ports forwarded.

You'll also need his IP. ipconfig from a prompt. Now the wildcard there is AOL. With AOL all bets are off with pretty much anything.

thanks... i dont think i will even try cuz i learned that it will be extremely slow and possibly disconnect if we try that. It would be best if both have high speed internet than dail up aol.
