I am relatively new to VPN and such, so any help you can give me will be extrememly appreciated. Ok, here is my problem.

My journalism class needs a computer that is decently fast in order to layout our paper, the computers in the journalism room are not fast enough. In order to avoid having to go to another classroom, I want to be able to connect to my computer via remote desktop from those school computers. Obviously, I am running XP pro. My home network consits of a linksys BEFSR41 and possibly a hub soon. What do i need to do to be able to connect to my home computer from school? do i need to set up a VPN? I tried to set up a VPN but it would only let me use the paralell port to recieve data. Will my router and a hub work with VPN??? Any suggestions on what router i should get???
Thanks for all your help, Brian.

yes this is very easy to do but i don't suggest using VPN as i have not had very good experiences with it. Instead i suggest you go and get Real VNC. It is very easy to use and is not as hard to set up. Then to access it all you do is put the client file on a CD or floppy and run it. Your router should not limit you in anyway. Be aware that you must know youre IP address of your computer in order to do this.

Hope this helps

Just connect using Remote Desktop. Install the client on the remote machine using a Windows XP CD and then set up your router at home to forward port 3389 to the machine at home you want to connect to.

But what are you hoping will be faster?
