Remote Desktop Question

I'm trying to connect to my pc at home but am getting an error message. My PC at home is turned on, but probably password locked since I haven't used it for a few hours. Do I have to be logged in my computer at home to sign on with Remote PC. Trying to figure out why I am having problems.

I tested the remote desktop last night with another computer at home and it worked.

no
probably a port/firewall issue
are you forwarding 3389 through your router to your PC's IP?

no you don't have to be logged in, what error are you getting? and if you were able to do it from another computer at home i'm assuming you have a router. You need to set the port forwarding on that router to the machine you are talking about (port 3389)
