remote desktop program that is pc-mac / mac-pc compatible?

I'm looking for a simple, easy method of accessing my work mac from my home pc and vice versa. I primarily want to access the files on both computers, but it would be great if I could remotely use applications as well. Price is less of an issue than is functionality.

Any suggestions?

LogMeIn could probably do it.

Locally, you can use Remote Desktop Connection to go from OS X to Windows, and then VNC to go from Windows to OS X.

Or just you know... use VNC for both actually.

But for longer distances, LogMeIn.
 
I use logmein, works well between my mac/ everything else. The free version does not include file transfers, but I simply use FTP to shuttle files to and from the PC being controlled.
