I am trying to get my desktop and server both setup on my LAN with RDP. The server is all setup using terminal services, etc. I configured the router to port-forward RDP (3389) to the servers static IP.

I am heading out of town for a few days and want to have access to my desktop also but obviously I can't port-forward the same port used by RDP so I checked out MS's KB and noticed you can change the listening port on a PC for RDP. So I did this to my desktop, then I am using my IP:pORT# to connect per the KB instructions, yet no luck the laptop I am trying to login with just times out and says the computer is unavailable. I have RDP turned on and my user account has access.

Has anyone had experience with changing the port to know of suggestions?

Nevermind figured it out, Windows Firewall was setup with RDP but when you change the port it needs to be changed also. So just added an exception to the firewall settings and added that port, works like a charm!
