Remote Desktop - Force Eye Candy

Is there any regisrty hack to force WindowsXP to serve up the full "eye candy" experience even though the client is sending flags for a lesser experience ? I have a couple of HP thin clients that only have rdesktop v1.31 which doesn't support the "LAN experience" flag, but is capable of displaying it. When the WinXP login dialog box comes up, it has WinXP gadget look, but then switches to "classic look" at the desktop. I want to FORCE WinXP look and allow WallPaper. HP tech support says no update is avail for the T5515 Client.
