I am trying to use remote desktop on my home network. I understand that the host computer must have Windows XP Pro. I read something that said if you have XP Home, you can install the software off a XP Pro disk and it will work.
Anyone done this?
Here's what TechTV has to say about the Remote Desktop issue (published before the official release of XP):
"The Remote Desktop software will only be available with Windows XP Professional Edition, but users with Windows XP Home Edition, 95, 98, NT, and 2000 can use the software as long as they install it from the XP Professional installation CD. As far as setup is concerned, users comfortable with configuring network connections in post-3.1 versions of Windows will have little trouble setting up Remote Desktop in Windows XP. Entering the correct IP, workgroup, and login information is essential in establishing a connection to the local Windows XP machine. Others may have a steeper learning curve."
