In Windows XP, there is a default server to accept remote desktop connections on port 3389

In Windows 2000, there is terminal services which basically does the same thing....

Is there anything for Windows NT 4 server? One of my co-worker seems to think so, but can't recall the name for it.

There isn't anything built in to the std edition, but there are 3rd party products that can do this, like VNC. I think the biggest problem here is that you are using NT 4 :)

yes, I know it's ancient technology. Might (hopefully) get the box replaced with a Windows 2000 machine.

Yeah, for something that old, I would just install RealVNC... Works just fine.

If you do get win2K server edition, or the advanced server edition, you can add terminal services to it. The nice thing about the Win2K server is that you can access the Terminal server from the default RDC stuff in Windows XP. Just go to Start --> Programs --> Accessories --> Communications --> Remote Desktop Connection and type in you servers domain address or the workgroup name.

You may want to try Win2k server over NT4. At least Win2k server is compatible with a lot of the XP stuff.
