I'm not sure what to search for. What I want to do is wire a remote control to my light switch in my basement. This way I can turn the lights on after watching a movie without having to stumble around for it. I want some sort of IR receiver that I can wire to the switch but I'm not sure what to use for my search.

TIA!

You can buy one at Home Depot and program a universal remote to turn it on and off:

This looks like it might do the trick. Now to make things more difficult, the current switch that's in place is a 3 way (?) switch. Meaning there are 2 separate switches that control these lights in my basement so they basically act as a toggle. Hopefully this should do the trick still?

Remote control toggle switches can be found. Some? Most? All? will require a neutral wire to the switch box. If your box has the neutral already your set. If not ...
