Hi all,

I've had one of those suckers like 10 years ago when I was a little kid and I suddenly have an itch to play aroudn with those small (yet powerful) cars again somehwo... Just wondering if anyone can recommend me a nice car to purchase with a moderate budget. Battery powered preferred :D

LOL

I can't help you with a car, but I've wanted one ever since webcams have become popular. I want to mount one on the car and chase my cat around the apartment. Think of the possibilities...

Do they have wireless webcams?? I know I could get a(n) USB extension cord but that would make a difficult obstacle for the car.

I could chase my fiancee around the pad too hehe!

Funny. I've been having the same feelings for some reason. I used to have a pretty bad one when I was a teenager. (Early teens, but when I resurrected it as a Senior in High school, it was twice as fun). I think part of my desire to get one is the fact that I'm about to move into a very big house with hardwood floors and many ways to go throught he house (you can drive from the living room into the back bedroom, into the closet, though the closet to the other end where you come out the other side, into the guest bedroom, into the hall, through the computer room into the kitchen, out of the kitchen into the dining room, and then back into the living room again from the other side) --With out ever crossing your tracks. :) That just sounds too fun. Unfortunately, I don't have any recommendations, but if you're like me, you're not serious enough to want to get a "professional" racing type... You just want something from Radio Shack or something? I saw a HUGE one at Radios Shack the other day. I mean, it was MASSIVE. I wanted to play with it. :)

<< Do they have wireless webcams?? >>

Not that I've ever seen (I don't think) but they do make some tiny mini-dv cams that would fit on any RC car. Now THAT would be some great footage. Nice, wide angle shot, full TV resolution/framerate... Then you could digitize it in any res. you want. Funny funny.

(I think my main prohibitive factor to keep me from getting an RC car is my wife. She just wouldn't go for it. How could I POSSIBLY convince her that the ~$100.00 I just spent on RC car stuff was a worthwhile investment? :))

I resurrected mine too. BUt I can't remember where in the world I placed it now. Perhaps I trashed it while moving house :( Woah... Sounds like you'll be getting a really huge house! Isn't there any RC tracks around yer place to participate in a race? ;)

I was thinking of assembling my own, but come to think of it... Nah!!!! Too time consuming. I think I'll go with the Radio Shack way... Too bad there isn't a Radio Shack in my country :D

It would be ideal if I could just resurrect mine. --But when I was zipping it around the Domino's parking lot one night several years ago (when I was asst. manager, setting a bad example on the clock ;)), I broke off the suspension arm on the right side. Basically, after that, the shocks on the right front side were completely useless, and if I tried to turn left, it would just bottom out, do a 180, and stop. There was no turning. Just 180 and stop. If it was going full speed, sometimes it would bottom out and flip over. :( I had to trash it after a few attempts at supergluing and epoxying the suspension arm back on.

i still R/C from time to time when i can find time... i'm a battery on-road guy so i would suggest a Associated TC3... one of the newest touring cars on the market, good track record at national champonships, very tunable, nice shaft drive system... = )

Haha...if you just want to drive a durable, awesome RC car, then get the Tyco Super Rebound. :D I bought 3 of them last Christmas, and it was a blast racing them against friends (they run on two different fequencies). The Tyco Super Rebound is the car with the oversized wheels and if you run it into anything it just flips over and keeps on going. ;) Very durable. ;)

So durable that I was in a Parking garage (@ 2am) and pulled it out of my car and started racing it one day... Well, the problem with that was that there was this one car that was speeding down the parking garage and almost ran over my RC vehicle, so I had to turn my RC zoom away... Too bad though, I zoomed right underneath the railings on the side of the parking garage. :Q

Haha. :D Stupid me. Well, I rushed downstairs and found that the car was still intact! :Q There as a minor crack in the body of it, but that's about it. I think the big wheels had something to do with the cushioning. :)

But yeah, go with the Super Rebound, it's well worth the money. Hehe...I've been thinking about using one of those X10 cams and hooking it up on the car. ;) Or some photon lights at night. :D
