I use my PC as my DVD player and I was wondering if there is any way that I could get a remote control to be able to control the DVD player and the volume while I watch these. Any suggestions would be great. The only idea I could come up with was to get a wireless mouse and use that fom the couch.

The new ATI AIW cards come with remotes. I also remember X10 making a PC Remote

You can find the Logitech/AST/Packard Bell remotes for about $20 or less. The x10 remotes will run for about $50. Hope this helps.

I think they make a wireless remote type thing with a rollerball on it. It's not a remote per se, but you can use it to control the mouse and do all the functions. It's just whehter or not you have a big enough screen to see what you are doing from a distance. You could also try a wireless keyboard. Most dvd software has a key combo to press to get it to play.

The X10 MouseRemote (model VK19A) works really well. A guy wrote a freeware utility called maX10 to use with it that let's you program it every way you can imagine. It's also a "universal" remote that can control your TV, VCR, and other stuff. It's well worth the $50 it costs. I've used one for over 2 years with no problems and much success. In fact I have 2, I like it so much I bought a spare in case I lose or break the first one and in case X10 quits selling them.

There is a packard bell remote also that is very customizable and only costs around $10. I own one and used to control winamp and a few windiws functions with it. I don't use it anymore because I got a tuner with a remote that allows me to customize the buttons. You can check out the PB remote here.
