Remote Connection, Vista to XP Basic

olds

My mother wants me to connect to her computer to help her do something. She had a tech do it at one time or another so she knows it can be done.
I have no clue how to do it.
She has XP Basic and I have Vista Home Premium. How do I go about setting this up?

TIA

Just for a funny, she was talking down to me because I didn't know how to do it. She said that she would tell me how. She had me log into her email account (Yahoo) and expected me to be able to access her computer. She said when she connects to Yahoo from my brother's house, she can delete her email so she must be on her computer. 😱

You have to be kidding regarding setting up remote desktop in windows. How the hell am I supposed to walk my semi computer illiterate grandma through that. I can barely get her to understand words like address bar and www.

There are few ways to do Remote Desktop.

It involves the level of control needed.

Your preference, With or Without 3rd party intervention.

The capacity of the person that needs the help to be part of the setup (it varies from one solution to the other).

1. Windows RDT

2. UltraVNC

3. A 3rd party in between application (like TeamViewer and LogMeIn).

My personal favorite is UltraVNC. It provides the most flexibility but needs some help from the other side to install.
