remote assistance with a firewall

Sully

Senior member
I am tring to use the remote assistance feature with Windows XP.
The computer I am tring to connect with has a Linksys router as a firewall. How can I configure the router so I can gain entry into his PC.
This is all new to me so make it easy. I read the manual and it is over my head.

Thanks for the help

The only option you have is to set up the linksys router "dmz host" to link your public ip to the machine you want to connect to (running xp). That expose your machine to the entire internet and is very dangerous, you have to install a firewall on that machine to prevent your host being attacked. I just try it and works fine. Hope this helps!
