Hey guys...
Right I got a server on my home LAN for file-serving/SETI etc and I want to use it as a games server too. Planning on using Tribes 2, UT, Q3A.
System is decent spec so hardware isn't an issue (tho' it doesn't have a great gfx card) - but how to control the games? The box is headless (no monitor, keyboard, mouse) - AC and ethernet only. Running XP Pro and controlled by Remote Desktop.
When I fire-up Tribes the game seems to start, but the game GUI doesn't seem to play nice with the remote desktop. Similarly; UT has issues. Game starts but GUI is real tricky to control - laggy mouse and also an off-set between mouse (RDP) position and mouse image on client-end screen..
So... what's the best way to run these games? The server doesn't need to be a game client. Can these be run from CMD line? Is there some 3rd-party app that hooks into these games? I'm guessing that this is a pretty common scenario... what's the deal?
Cheers...
