I was wondering if someone can suggest a cheap VPN / Remote access solution. I help support some people and they live a fair distance away from me but they do have a DSL connection. I was wondering what method would be most secure and reliable to connect into their network so i can do remote trouble shooting.

The work is setup by them having IP address from the ISP that are assigned to the dsl modem and then the internal network has 192.168.x.x ip addresses.

I would plan on using damware or vnc to remote into the machine once i get access to their network, but how would one suggest that i should get access. They have SBC dsl service with the dsl modem/router all built into one unit ( also a 4 port hub/switch in it )

Please advise

Buy them a cheap, old webramp 700 (flashed to a Sonicwall original Soho), You can set up VPN endpoint with it and connect it via their old VPN or a VPN router on your end. Then you can tunnel VNC, etc thru it.
You can also get away with one of the cheap linksys VPN routers, etc, but may have a tougher time as I am not sure they have a VPN client to use to connect to it. I guess you could use safenet client, but the webramp 700 solution is MUCH easier.

This will work: Webramp/sonicwall

or you can buy a webramp and get the additional stuff u need for it off ebay
