It's updated. Probably more stuff optimized and such. You'll definitely want to download it but no way to know if it's better unless you research stuff about it.

The general rule of thumb is if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Unless there's a bug/security fix or a significant performance increase, don't bother.

I always install the latest DirectX updates whenever Mem posts them and have had no trouble at all with games, whether it be XP32 or Vista64.

I never fool with downloading these things. if a game needs something DX related then it will be included during the games installation anyway.

I have installed every DX update since 2007 in both Vista and 7 ,never had any issues,I'm a gamer too.


Its very simple install process no reboot needed.
