Reminder how precious life is

on a side note there is a retarded guy who sells candy at the Vienna metro in NoVA.
I always used to buy candy from him when I had cash on me ( used to hit the atm if I didn't) and talk. He is heavily disabled but was taking english classes at the time.
Hadn't seen him in about a year.

Saw him on Tuesday and I surprised him: "remember me?"

he went nuts shaking and giggling a lot* 😀 He was elated to see me.🙂

that made my day and it seemed to make him very happy.🙂

*pun not intended by any means.

All you religion haters need to get a clue.

Let's give you 30 days to live and see how fast you change your tune.

Oh... ALS usually takes a few years to kill you. So I guess if you found out tomorrow that you had ALS by time you got to this guys condition you would have had a LOT of time to reflect on your views of life and god.

for you maybe

i felt compassion for the guy. imagine knowing you have only 30 days to live. you can hear in his voice how his disease is even making that weak.

we all would have regrets in our lives if we were given that death sentence and forced to reflect. i appreciate that he notes he wants his wife to find someone to make her happy after he is gone. my father told my mother that too when he knew his days were numbered. she has a bf now, and he's a real decent guy. it's rough seeing your mom with anyone but your father in this case, but she's repeated what my father said to her before he died that he wanted her to find a nice guy who makes her happy. i think she has.

i think we all should heed the regrets this guy has. they are all too common day for a lot of people.

Bullshit. People told me that I'd find god in a war zone too. Science fiction people....

some are blinded by the hate.

Some are angry because they see so many people that they love waste their time and energy with a made up story.

life is indeed precious...in august 2008, my mom was diagnosed with metastatic pancreatic cancer, and given 3-6 months to live by the doctors. when she was diagnosed, she looked like the healthiest woman in the world, and we were all shocked. i lost her on february 1, 2009....

never take any moment for granted, and never cease to tell your parents and family that you love them. i would give anything in the world to see her again...

i am talking about someone who has such a hang up with religion that if the word God is mentioned they can't get beyond that as in watching the video posted in the OP. i actually didn't pay much attention to the religious aspect of the video as listening to the guy express his regrets in life and how much he loves his wife and feeling bad for what she's had to go through b/c of his illness.

Yes, because if I got diagnosed with a terminal disease, the first thing I'd do is praise the glory of my almighty creator for such a blessing.

i understand what you are saying completely. 🙁

Yeah, life is crazy that way. Here one minute, gone the next. I'm only 25 and already several people from my high school class have died. I don't know which is worse - dying instantly with things unsaid or dying slowly and watching your loved ones get depressed as you suffer.

Dying slowly is much worse. You get to watch yourself deteriorate physically and mentally into a shadow of your former self. You lose your sense of dignity as your last weeks/months are spent bed-ridden, pissing/shitting in a bedpan, hardly able to move.

Of course, without the shackles of religion stopping you, one could pursue doctor assisted suicide and die in peace before any of that happens.

Who said anything about a made up story??

You can believe in god without believing in the bible or torah or any other religious text.
