Reminder about Berkeley problems.

Everyone should be using some type of caching mechanism just in case Berkeley goes down, SETI Driver has that built in for stand alone clients. If you have multiple machines please use one of the TeAm proxies. OrangeKids is the Oficcial but others are available for use by the TeAm as well:

orangekid.teamanandtech.com, port 5001..............................Provided by Orangekid

siren.2y.net:5001.................................................................. provided by MaxSiren

darkmajiq.dns2go.com:5001................................. provided by DarkMajiq

www.scarieville.com:5517........................................ provided by Shuxclams

seti.tacube.com:5517...................................................... provided by Russ

teamanandtech.d2g.com:5001......................... provided by ConfusedBW

federation.2y.net:443..................................................... provided by Engineer

Keep this in mind for the future. 🙂

<< Berkeley seems to work fine, as long as you hit them early in the morning before those slackers get up. 🙂 >>

That's when the problem started for me yesterday 🙁

6:24am EST.

If everybody would keep at least 4 days worth of WU's in their personal cache and also use Oragekids proxy or one of the other ones, then I doubt we will ever have a problem with computers idle without WU's to crunch.

If anybody needs any help at all seting up seti driver or pointing it towards orangekids proxy and were afraid to ask just PM me.

I'm using the GUI, how do I cache some WU's. I'm having trouble connecting to the server. It's really slowing me down!

I don't think you can cache WUs with the GUI, You can with the CLI and SetiDriver though. You'll even get better WU times. Go here for instructions on setting up CLI/SetiDriver 😉.

🙁

I just sent a WU but can't get any more...glad I bumped up my caches the other day

w00t! Here comes one...slowly

I got one to return and in a few minutes I will have another.

przero,

You should switch to the command line client and Seti driver. On my little Athlon 1.2 with DDR memory I can do a work unit in about 6.5 hours. With the GUI it would be around 9 hours

I run a WU in 4:15 - 4:45 with the GUI. Really don't want to set up the CLI. Just want to cache some WU's to process when I can't connect to server.

You really should look at using the CLI. 😉 Even with the GUI running blanked the CLI can be over 25% faster. I bet with the CLI on that machine your WUs would be in the low 3 hour range.
