Father's day is coming up. Lets start a thread to share stories and memories about our fathers:
I went to school in Indiana and my parents were living in Rhode Island. I don't remember why now but once instead of flying home for Thanksgiving, I decided to take the Greyhound. It took almost 20 hours to get from Indianopolis to NYC and I had a five hour layover in the Port Authority Bus station. And then it was another four hours to get to New Port.

For giggles I had taken a 12 pack of beer and a pint of cheap whiskey for the bus trip and pretty much finished everything somewhere in PA. Okay, I was sitting in the Port Authority extremely hung over and barely able to stay awake. I knew the last thing I wanted to do was to fall asleep but I was nodding out anyway.

I looked up there was my dad standing in front of me, shaking his head. He said I looked like something my cat dragged in to donate to the Thanksgiving diner. He had driven the two - three hours from New Port to save me nine hours of Greyhound hell.

My father past away but I still miss him.

what a wonderful story.

My dad has been a learning expereince.
But, he was always very good to my brother and I. I remember hot HOT summer nights before we had air conditioning in our house. We would be out swimming in our tiny pool all day and we would come in soaking wet, and hot and he would have a big piece of watermelon cut and de-seeded for both of us. So, him, my brother and I sat in our kitchen, on the floor with a fan blowing on our faces in soaking wet swim suits eating watermelon.

It is a simple memory, but one that i will not forget.

I don't really have much.... My dad wasn't a bad person, but we were so different that we never really did much. I do remember helping him out with this Father's Day Chicken BBQ at a local gun club (he shot sporter rifle and pistol and I think was president of one of the clubs). He also bought me my first computer components to help me learn about computers. I also remember the first time I started my car after swapping the engine. I did a lot of the work, but when I needed some guidance, he'd help me out.
