This goes to show that such conflicts can happen in any situation with power struggles.

As least we showed how it should be done with the American native population, peacefully.

This is the idea behind the UN, where groups can raise issues, conflicts and the UN can help identify more peaceful resolutions than 'whoever kills the other side wins'.

But even that gets corrupted as alliances form and a blind eye for one situation is traded for a blind eye for another and so on. We need to do more for peace.

When you had US southerners who were 'persecuted' in the US going to Mexico and refusing to respect the Mexican government (and in part trying to bring African slavery), who was wrong there? When the US decided to soon after take half of Mexico by force, who was wrong? When the Mexican government was bad and there was rebellion in the region, whose fault was that?

I see the Jordanian government here dealing with rebellious people on its land jeopardizing the government - not the Israeli government who shows up, allies with the most powerful nation in the world on the other side of the word and becomes the most militarily strong nation in the region and has its own long record of wrongs against actually innocent people.

You don't think Israeli violence receives disproportionate media attention compared to violence perpetrated by other nations? You sure about that Craig?

It's odd, because you seem to recognize *other* double standards about violence. So, for example, in another thread you found it strange that we get up in arms about a single beheading by Muslim terrorists when the U.S. kills a lot more people militarily. Well the argument is parellel here. Hundreds can die in Darfur over the course of a week, and you see one article about that for every 10 about a single Palestinian killed by the IDF. In fact, the entire media coverage of the Israel/Palestine dispute is rather odd in that you even see articles about single Palestinians getting killed, where thousands die in other parts of the world without a lick of coverage.

Try applying what you are suggesting is your critical eye of objectivity to an issue where the result doesn't suit your ideological comfort zone for once. You might actually discover something that hadn't occurred to you before...

No one has forgotten. Thing is, Israel did indeed help with transports and such, not that i give a fuck about it either way, it was indeed the Jordans who were executing that mission.

Just so you know it, as a Jew, i REALLY hate it when other Jews try to portray us as a group as victims of repression in todays society because we most certainly are not, not in the media either and you know this very well.

Now, Palestinians had it coming considering their past actions so what can you say.. Israel should have remained neutral and get stuck in the middle? No nation ever has, they have always aided the side they would benefit from winning or the side that they would have the most problems with if they didn't aid them.

Check out the "neutral" Sweden that is held in such high regard for remaining neutral while they aided and provided transports for Nazis during WWII.

Playing the innocence card only works if you were a thousand miles away and had no knowledge.

You know what I hate even more than Jews portraying us as victims? It's Jews afraid to call a rat a rat for fear of being called a "Jew crying victim".
