Remember when MTV...

actually played decent music videos and the only shows on were Beavis and Butthead (which still had like 2 music videos) and Daria?

Those were good times.

Edit: There you go Zim.

Honestly, I am slowly forgetting about those times🙁

It's just been so long. THe only reason I even turn on one of the music channels is for VH1s 'i wuv the 90s' shows ....I really have no reason to tune in to MTV at all.

well 95% of the time it's some dumb show (most not even INVOLVING music) and the other 5% is the latest hip-hop or pop song... what happened to the ROCKIN' MTV??? 🙁

Yes, in fact, I do remember those days. Having a couple of cool shows (B and B) was fine. Having 24 hours a day of stupid shows makes me wonder why it's even still called MTV.

Yeah and Beavis and Butthead werent on until like 10pm anyways. The only interruption was Kurt Loder and that "Beep Beep... Beep Beep Beep This is MTV News" thing

I actually had MTV VJ Nina Blackwood's autographed picture until a couple of years ago. Isn't that sad...

I also remember watching the first video when it came on: Video Killed the Radio Star. God I am getting old.

Yes.

I had probably seen every Beavis and Butthead episode out there, and rented the video game for Sega 5 or 6 times and never beat it. Daria was also a good show.

Im so f@ckin old to remember that MTV did not even have Headbangers Ball or Yo MTV raps. You had to stay up really late at night to see the Rush, Van Halen and Dio video's.

Word.

quit fooling yourselves... MTV never played good music videos. at least not in any kind of respectful ratio to the bad music videos that they pimped out.

MTV had prently of Crappy programming then to - "10 Angry Viewers", "Singled Out", "Fanatic", the list goes on. MTV was only cool because you erased all of the crappiness in your mind - MTV was just as lame back then as it is now.

MTV isn't too bad, except for stupid "jackass" shows... viva la bam too... don't encourage the nation's youth. :|

A couple of the daytime bartenders, women, at my neighborhood bar like to watch VH1 which means when I go in for a happyhour beer I am watch VH1.

Didn't VH1 at one time play music videos?

From what I have seen, it is all "celebrity" reality shows.

Beavis and Butthead came long after MTV ceased being a real music station. The beginning of the end was the game show "Remote Control." (1987) Before that, MTV showed ONLY music videos and music news.
